June 15th- For the second year in a row, this year in conjunction with the Northwood Fire Department members took part in the IAFC, IAFF 2009 Fire/EMS Safety, Health and Survival Week. This was held at Northwood Station #1, and the program "Everyone Goes Home" was presented by Maumee Fire's Asst. Chief Brandon Loboschefski.

June 9th-As a new day rose, so did the arrival of the NEW Rescue Engine 790 fresh from the factory. Although bug covered and way past bedtime we are happy it is home. Here are ALL the pictures from start to finish.

June 2009- The Rossford Firefighters Association is pleased to make it's annual awards. Seen below are Chlelo Obi who will attend Miami University of Ohio majoring in Pre-Med and Justin Giamio who will attend Ohio State University majoring in Business. Presenting the $500.00 awards are Assn. President Matt Giles Sr., and Dave Giamio Assn. Vice President.

June 2009- A late night crash scrambled crews for a single car MVA that resulted in one person being injured and treated at the scene.

June 2009- A sunny mid-day roll over MVA resulted in no injuries but was caused by a flying wheelbarrow.

Late May 2009- Asst. Chief Drouard has just returned from the KME plant in metro Nesquehoning, Pennsylvania for the "in process" inspection of the new Rescue Engine 790. This rig is slated for completion on June 5th, with Final Inspection and acceptance on Monday June 8th. Here it is seen just prior to us leaving, going for it's pump test certification that takes approximately 4 hours to complete. For additional photos please click here.

May 20th- Wicked Wednesday showed it face to responders today as they answered 7 calls for service in approximately 12 hours. This included 1 AFA and 6 EMS runs, keeping right in tune with National EMS Week.

May 2009-  A recent MVA sent crews to a busy intersection where 2 cars collided. One person was treated for non-life threatening injuries at a local hospital. Crews did need to utilize the extrication equipment to safely remove the patient.

May 2009- Crews respond to a roll over MVA on I-75. Upon arrival crews found two patients with minor injuries. For additional photos click here.

May 6th 2009- Crews have had a busy week thus far including a structure fire in the 500 blk. of Sioux Trail. Upon arrival crews found moderate smoke conditions. The fire was caused from some home plumbing gone wrong. Units operated with their auto-aid companions for approximately 1 hour. For additional pictures click here.

April 2009- Crews found themselves going on back-to-back calls for a spill on I-75. One in the southbound side and one on the northbound side. Northwood #1 was also dispatched and in what is a rare occurrence found there were 2 separate incidents. As Rossford crews mopped up the southbound side, Northwood operated on the northbound side and also requested our Spill Hazard Incident Trailer.

May 6th 2009- For the first time in the City's history a fire levy DID NOT pass. We would like to thank the voters for renewing the 0.6 mil levy that has been around for many years. We were disappointed that the 1.0 renewal with 0.5 mil added failed as that is what would allow us to continue moving forward replacing the aging fleet. If you have any questions about ANY levies please stop by or call the fire station.

Friday April 24th- EMS Captain David St. Johns received The Outstanding Emergency Medical Technician from the Owens Community College Alumni Association. He was honored for his dedication and continued response to high percentage of all emergency calls. Congrats Captain St. Johns !! For more information please click here.

While on the way to FDIC pictures of the new rescue engine were sent from the plant. The rig is coming along nicely and is due for delivery during the second week in June. To view the pictures click here !
