May 17th 2010- The Department wants to thank Matt Giles Jr. for his 5 years of services as he has resigned and joined the Perrysburg Township Fire-EMS Department, we wish him well.

The Rossford Fire and Rescue Department recently went to the archives and looked at the treasure trove of photographs and found this stunning compilation of days past. When it was April1978, when LOF was in full swing, our community still had  Frautchi's Hardware Store, Groves Variety, Sterlings, and many more places that no longer exist. It also was a time that the local fire department purchased a piece of firefighting equipment that was even until recent times, the ONLY ladder truck with a bucket between here and Bowling Green. So hit the way back button for a trip down memory lane with the men and their "flying machine' and also wonder at the awesome black and white photos of what we believe was her first action @ Venny's Hayloft on Bergin St.

(Chief you may want to turn this up !)

As you know we have recently replaced the ladder truck at the station, with the levy passage last fall. This was our last non-enclosed cab and the last manual transmission operated apparatus in the house. It was how I learned to drive a stick when I joined at 18 years of age. I don't often add any personal touches to the website, but I did compile a fitting tribute to her recent departure back the factory that made her. Please click on the picture below to view it. If anyone wants to email me the other members in the photo I will add their names to the credit at the end, enjoy. (I believe I now have everyone in the photo, thanks to Rick Vascik)

Over the past month some members and citizens have stepped up to go above and beyond the call of duty by taking care of some enhancements to either the station or apparatus. They are : Matt Giles  Sr.,Matt Giles Jr. , Andrew Vascik, Steve Vierk, Rick Drouard. (if I missed you it wasn't intentional, I just don't have your name).

May 2010- The new  ladder truck arrived this past Wednesday. This unit replaces the 1978 ladder after voters were kind enough to renew the 1.0 mil levy last fall.  The Department wishes to thank the community, and it's members for a job well done in getting the rig ready for service in the next few days.

April 2010- Rossford Police and Fire, Perrysburg Township Police and Fire, the Ohio Highway Patrol, Mercy St. Vincent Life Flight and the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford participated in a Mock Crash just in time for the annual Prom Season. This is done every four years so that the high schoolers understand the ramifications of texting and/or drinking and driving.  We would like to thank Officer Jodi Johnson for coordinating this year's event and thanks to our neighboring departments that assisted. Seen below are crews "ready" to respond to the incident. For more photos click here.

Late April 2010- Crews responded on Automatic Aid to a vacant structure that was well off upon arrival. Rossford E-794 arrived second due on the first alarm and laid out 950' of 5" through a mobile home park to provide water supply. Northwood had pre-planned this location due to the lack of hydrants. Lake Twp. was requested for tankers as a secondary water supply if needed. Defensive tactics were deployed from the onset and crews remained on the scene for 7 plus hours before returning to service.  For 2 more pages of pictures click here !

Here is another GREAT PSA about YOU and emergency vehicles .......click the pic to get  the info !

April 2010-Crews were dispatched to the Interstate for a single car MVA with moderate damage. Two patients were transported to a local trauma center with non-life threatening injuries. For more action shots click here.

April 2010- Easter Weekend kept crews busy as they answered 7 calls for including going in service Mutual Aid with Toledo with Marine One on a wildland fire that Toledo crews had trouble getting a water supply to. For more photos please click here.

April 2010 -A late afternoon vehicle fire with exposures got the response of both engines to a local apartment complex. The SUV sustained heavy damage.

Late March 2010- A nighttime response with a full Auto-Aid compliment was dispatched  in Perrysburg Twp. for an occupied apartment fire. Upon arrival there was smoking showing from division one unit. RFRD T-791 was first due on the first alarm and was given "search" as their assignment. Going to the floor above the fire they discovered one victim who was removed via ground ladder to safety and was treated and released from smoke inhalation. For more photos (including the ladder rescue) click here.

I found this on another fire department website, and then youtube and now I am posting it here since we have been on the Interstate alot recently. Do NOT less this happen to you. Please slow down and give us room to operate, click on the picture for a GREAT PSA.
